Portrait of Joel - Sold
It was while I was drifting, with possible future pictures floating in my mind, that the good news came - first of all, from a dear friend - that Joel's portrait was sold in the exhibition, this morning! Bittersweet news!! Don't get me wrong - I'm delighted to have made this sale for a number of obvious reasons. For a lot of artists, however, it can be a bit of a wrench to part with creations which embody a part of one's soul and, when that creation happens to be an image of one's own child, the feelings are mixed, to say the least.
But, no problem - I can paint another one! In fact, I will!! Now just to decide which one of those many ideas to tackle first...

ReplyDeleteis a testament to the beauty of your artwork Would you belive I almost wrote heartwork by accident! Then again, perhaps heartwork is a fitting word, after all :) I feel this way when I write poems - it's heart work.

You sold Joel!!! Congratulations. Good job you get to keep the real Joel. I will have to get you to draw my picture soon otherwise you will be too busy and famous to do it!! I am so pleased and happy for you. I wonder who is going to enjoy looking at Joel every day. I hope he brings them a lot of joy.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Immy. Yes, it's amazing how motivating a sale can be! I'm working inside my head, at the moment, sifting through ideas and planning. This is the silent stage where it looks like nothing is happening but it's probably the most important part of a picture:)
