You didn't have a very good photo to use but you have produced a wonderful drawing. Are you happy with it? I'd love to see it in real life. By the time I next get to see you, the nun will be hanging on someone else's wall!!
Thank you, Sue. I'm quite happy with the nun and the background but I'm not so happy with the habit. If the reference photo was clearer, I may have approached it differently. I think this particular portrait actually looks nicer in real life because the computer doesn't show up the background - it had faded a lot.
Thanks, Immy. I have a special soul planned for my next portrait, but I have some preparatory work to do first! In the meantime, I might do some colour sketches and illustrative work.
Thank you, Autumn. There are some advantages of working from a black and white photo - Norman Rockwell used to do it and he'd change the colours along the way. But, you need to know how to use colour first.

Wow, the nun looks so good! I'd never have guessed that you'd drawn it from a black and white photo. What will you next project be?
